COUPLES Working with couples can be short-term (focusing on one specific issue/pattern) or long-term (focusing on several issues within the relationship). When working with couples, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy and focus on the "relationship" as the primary client. Our work together will often involve addressing communication patterns, family of origin issues, attachments, boundaries, and identifying patterns and underlying emotions within the relationship.
FAMILIES If things are not going well in a family dynamic, the entire family is invited to work through the presenting issues in a neutral place to heal, explore, plan, and resolve conflict. By using a family systems approach, together we will focus on the entire family as a whole until unit by making small, actionable changes that will grow over time. Common family therapy topics can include parenting challenges, setting boundaries, interpersonal dynamics, communication patterns, roles/rules/rituals, and generational patterns. I work with traditional and non-traditional nuclear, extended, and separated / divorced / step-families.
